László Nádas donated his works to the Christian Museum in connection with his temporary exhibition Homage to the King, held in 2019.
László Nádas was a defining figure in Hungarian industrial design. As a designer of tools, vehicles, everyday objects, toys, playgrounds and a wide variety of other objects, he was an outstanding practitioner of his profession — a true designer. At the same time, as a lover of nature, a thoughtful observer of the bucolic landscape of Lake Balaton, an authentic witness to history, a profound interpreter of human relationships and of the human being as a social creature, and an artist drawn to sacred and biblical themes, he was also a true draughtsman.
In his drawings, light — and the shadow created by light — plays a fundamental role. Their contrasts generate a beneficial sense of tension. His art moves with elevated poise along the borderlands between reality and imagination, while his works rise into the realm of the sacred.
László Nádas’s collection of drawings, and the generous gesture of its donation, also present us with an authentic portrait of a personality: a man who, whatever artistic field he worked in, carried out his creative activity throughout his life in the certainty of faith. This certainty permeates the spirit of these works, while his artistic vision gives rise to values of exceptional significance. (Balázs Feledy, 2019)
