Description and further information

“A few months earlier, I approached him and asked him to engage with the subject, taking into account the exhibition’s developing concept: the intention to present the liturgical relationship between God and humankind, one that goes beyond miracles and may be described through the notion of transubstantiation. He became so enthusiastic that he immediately began making sketches. The finished work ultimately became a truly contemporary, deeply meaningful creation, situated on the boundary between figurative and abstract painting.

Through the exhibition as a whole, we wish to speak about the chosen theme in a simple way, and to awaken new thoughts in visitors about matters with which Christian art has been concerned from its very beginnings. Gábor Atlasz exemplifies the fact that artists still live among us today who are able to rethink biblical themes and the teachings of the Church in an autonomous and original manner, while also finding, through their mode of expression, a connection with the Christian context in which the works are received.”
