Birth of Jesus

Clearly the relief, assembled from three pieces, originally adorned the inner side of an altarpiece wing. When the work was restored in 1976-77, it was placed on a new support. A wider, vertical strip is probably missing from the right side; it may have depicted a section of wall, balancing the wall detail on the left side of the composition.

Perhaps Ipolyi collection. It cannot be unequivocally identified.

19th-century overpainting, Márta Kázik, 1976-77 (who removed the 19th century additions)
