St. Paul the Apostle, a detail from the Mount of Olives scene

The panel painted on both sides, depicting the standing figure of St. Paul on the feast-day side, may have been the lower panel of the right side of the movable wing of a former retable. The panels appearing one above the other in the narrow wings were originally separated from each other by a painted frame, the traces of which can be seen on the upper edge of the panel, on both sides. The wings were obviously later sawed apart horizontally. The style of the images links them to mid-15th century painting in Salzburg or Vienna.
